If you need to Learn CPR in Albury Wodonga, Yatson Training is running an HLTAID009 Provide CPR course during the week starting Monday 14 September 2026.
The scheduled course date is Wednesday 16 September 2026.
This practical course is suitable for workplace teams, corporate groups, small groups and individuals who need current CPR skills or an annual CPR refresher. Training is delivered by experienced professionals, including lead trainer Jackie Hislop RN, in an interactive setting that focuses on practical skills rather than theory alone.
Check course availability and book through Yatson Training.
What is HLTAID009 Provide CPR all about?
HLTAID009 Provide CPR is a nationally recognised training unit that teaches you how to respond to a person who is unresponsive and not breathing normally.
CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) combines chest compressions and rescue breaths to help circulate blood and oxygen until emergency medical assistance arrives. The course also covers how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) safely and effectively.
You may need this course if you:
- Require an annual CPR refresher for your workplace.
- Need CPR training for employment or volunteer work.
- Are completing or maintaining Workplace First Aid certification.
- Work in an industry where CPR skills are part of your role.
- Want practical CPR skills for your home, community or sporting organisation.
- Need to meet an employer, regulator or industry requirement.
HLTAID009 is focused specifically on CPR. It is not the same as the broader HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course, which includes additional first aid skills for injuries, medical conditions and workplace emergencies.
Course date: Wednesday 16 September 2026
Yatson Training’s HLTAID009 Provide CPR course is scheduled for Wednesday 16 September 2026, during the week beginning Monday 14 September.
Places may be limited, so check the Yatson Training courses page and confirm the current course details before booking.
If you are arranging training for several workers, contact Yatson Training directly. The team can discuss available options for Corporate First Aid training, workplace groups and private sessions.
Call Yatson Training on 0450 533 179 to confirm the Wednesday session or discuss group bookings.
What you will practise during HLTAID009
The course is designed to give you repeated opportunities to practise the skills required during a CPR emergency.
You will learn how to:
- Check for danger before approaching.
- Assess a person’s responsiveness.
- Send for help and call Triple Zero (000).
- Open and assess the airway.
- Recognise normal and abnormal breathing.
- Start CPR when it is required.
- Perform effective chest compressions.
- Provide rescue breaths if trained and willing.
- Use an AED trainer.
- Follow AED voice and visual prompts.
- Work with another rescuer.
- Continue CPR until help takes over or the person shows signs of life.
Australian CPR guidance generally follows the DRSABCD sequence:
- Danger – Check the area for hazards.
- Response – Check whether the person responds.
- Send for help – Call 000 and ask someone to collect an AED.
- Airway – Open and check the airway.
- Breathing – Look for normal breathing.
- CPR – Begin compressions and breaths where appropriate.
- Defibrillation – Apply an AED as soon as one is available.
During training, practise the sequence on adult, child and infant manikins as directed by your trainer. Build the physical technique through repetition. Ask questions when you are unsure.

Why hands-on CPR training matters
CPR is a physical skill. Reading instructions can help you understand the process, but it does not replace practice.
You need to know what correct compressions feel like. You need to practise maintaining a steady rate and allowing the chest to recoil. You also need to become familiar with the sound and instructions of an AED.
Yatson Training keeps sessions practical and engaging. You will work with training manikins and equipment in a supervised environment. Jackie Hislop RN and the training team can demonstrate each step, observe your technique and provide feedback.
This approach helps you practise:
- Correct hand placement.
- Compression depth and rate.
- Head tilt–chin lift.
- Rescue breathing technique.
- AED pad placement.
- Safe coordination with other rescuers.
- Clear communication during an emergency.
The goal is not to create false confidence. The goal is to help you understand the process, practise the required skills and respond appropriately within your level of training.
CPR and Workplace First Aid certification
Many workplaces require staff to maintain current CPR skills. Safe Work Australia recommends regular refresher training, including annual CPR refreshers, because CPR is a skill that can decline when it is not practised.
Your workplace should assess its own risks and training needs. Consider:
- The number of workers on each shift.
- The size and layout of the workplace.
- The distance to emergency medical services.
- The type of work being performed.
- Remote, isolated or mobile work.
- Known hazards and previous incidents.
- The number and location of first aid kits and AEDs.
HLTAID009 may meet a specific CPR refresher requirement. It may not meet the full first aid needs of your workplace. If your team needs broader Workplace First Aid certification, consider HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
Yatson Training can help you compare the available courses and choose training that suits your workplace risk profile.

Who should book this course?
HLTAID009 Provide CPR is suitable for a wide range of participants.
Book this course if you are:
- An employee due for a CPR refresher.
- A manager reviewing workplace training records.
- A business owner arranging Corporate First Aid training.
- A workplace first aider who needs to refresh CPR skills.
- A community group coordinator.
- A sports coach or club volunteer.
- A parent, carer or individual wanting practical CPR knowledge.
- Preparing for an employment or volunteer requirement.
If you work in education or care, check whether you need the broader Childcare First Aid course HLTAID012. HLTAID012 covers first aid in an education and care setting and may be more appropriate than CPR-only training.
Our recommendation
Do not wait until your certificate is close to expiring.
Check your training records now. Confirm whether your workplace requires HLTAID009, HLTAID011 or another unit. Then book a suitable course before your current skills lapse.
For workplace managers, review your coverage across all shifts. One trained person may not be enough if they are regularly absent, working in another area or unavailable outside standard hours.
Also check your emergency equipment. Make sure your first aid kits are accessible and your AED, if available, is easy to locate. Include CPR response procedures in your workplace emergency planning.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to complete CPR training every year?
Many workplaces require an annual CPR refresher to help keep skills current. Check your employer’s policy, industry requirements and workplace risk assessment.
Is HLTAID009 the same as HLTAID011 Provide First Aid?
No. HLTAID009 focuses on CPR and AED use. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid covers a broader range of first aid responses, including injuries and medical conditions.
Can Yatson Training organise Corporate First Aid training?
Yes. Yatson Training provides flexible training for corporate clients, workplace teams, small groups and individuals. Contact the team to discuss your requirements.
Why book professional training instead of learning online?
CPR requires physical practice. Professional training allows you to practise compressions, rescue breaths and AED procedures under supervision. This helps you identify and correct technique issues before you face a real emergency.
Is the Wednesday 16 September course suitable for individuals?
The course is promoted for individuals as well as workplace and small groups. Confirm availability and booking details through yatsontraining.com.au/courses or call 0450 533 179.
